There are spelling mistakes in this first page. But the page is locked. Being a sysop at ta.wikipedia.org, I am used to edit media wiki based sites. IF you can unlock the page, I will be able to make relevant changes. கோபி 17:28, 16 அக்டோபர் 2007 (UTC)

[தொகு] Canonical equivalents in Tamil Unicode

The canonical equivalents like கோ (க + ோ) and கோ ( க + ே +ா) will wide open the doors for spoofing.

For eg: http://கௌ.இணை is not same as http://கெள.இணை similarly http://உன்.என் is not same as http://௨ன்.௭ன்

As they appear as same in the browser's address bar, they can be used for spoofing. This kind of spoofing will not only be used in TLDs, it is also possible to use them in sub directory level (which is already possible with English TLD with Tamil sub directories or web filenames. ).

How is ICANN going to handle this issue?

It is truly impressive! Congratulations! I tried using Firefrox and IE and also tried to cut and paste the URL. It works wonderfully. The choice of words used for the test URL could have been more attractive for Tamils, but it is not important for this test. I hate to put a damper on this, but the main pages in the various language of the IDNwiki need to be coordinated. The Tamil article was the only only that hadn't been locally reviewed after delivery from the translators and the offer of cleaning it up was gratefully accepted. When I type in Tamil script (http://உதாரணம்.பரிட்சை/தமிழ்) on the address bar, both IE7 and Firefox takes to the relavant page. In IE7, I am able to see the Tamil script in address bar. But in Firefox the addressbar changes to http://xn--zkc6cc5bi7f6e.xn--hlcj6aya9esc7a/%E0%AE%A4%E0%AE%AE%E0%AE%BF%E0%AE%B4%E0%AF%8D. கோபி 20:09, 16 அக்டோபர் 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I agree. I've the same observation. Further I found that when I copy the text and URL into Word, the URL does not work as a clickable link, though it is supposed to be clickable. But the http://ta.idn.icann.org does work (it has not Tamil letters in the URL).--செல்வக்குமார் 20:22, 16 அக்டோபர் 2007 (UTC)

I agree the comments made by Gobi. I have tested the site http://உதாரணம்.பரிட்சை/தமிழ் with Windows XP SP2 with IE6 didn't display the site but firefox 2 did display with like the URL mentioned just above while firefox 3 2nd beta version did dispaly nicely. Wow. It works. All the test works as the links correctly point to this page. It works in Outlook to copy and paste the URL on subject and text area. Works both in firefox and IE msathia

நல்ல முயற்சி. என்னுடைய விண்டோஸ் XP கணியில் ஃபையர்ஃபாக்ஸ் உலாவியில் எந்த வழுவும் இன்றி வேலை செய்கிறது இந்த சுட்டி (http://உதாரணம்.பரிட்சை). ஆனால் என்னுடைய IE 6.0 உலாவியில் "Invalid syntax error" என்று பிழை வருகிறது, ஒரு blank screen வந்து நிற்கிறது. --Santhoshguru 07:12, 18 பெப்ரவரி 2008 (UTC)
